Working together for children and young people with Long COVID -like conditions
PEDNET-LC is a newly established, interdisciplinary paediatric network dedicated to research and the care of children and young people with Long COVID-like conditions. These include post-infectious conditions caused by SARS-CoV-2, the influenza virus, the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and other pathogens. In future, those experiencing symptoms following vaccination, as well as children and young people with ME/CFS regardless of the underlying cause, are also to be cared for through these services.
What is PEDNET-LC?
PEDNET-LC is a nationwide network comprising 65 hospitals and research institutes, which focuses on improving diagnostic methods and treatment approaches for children and young people with Long COVID-like conditions, with the aim of ensuring comprehensive and effective support for those affected.
At the heart of the project are 20 specialised, interdisciplinary care centres, which aim to provide comprehensive regional care. Data generated from routine clinical practice is collected, analysed and used to continuously improve medical care. The findings are made available to the public.
This is made possible by funding from the Federal Ministry of Health.

As the PEDNET-LC network, comprising 65 clinics and research institutions as well as a growing number of collaborating partners and patient organisations, we are working together to support people with Long COVID, ME/CFS and related conditions. Our aim is to improve care, advance research and sustainably enhance the quality of life for those affected. Together, we aim to create an environment in which those affected, their families, researchers and healthcare professionals feel respected and heard. For it is only within a culture of respectful dialogue that we can achieve our shared goal: the best possible care and prospects for people affected by Long COVID, ME/CFS and related conditions.”
